Patricia A. “Patsy” Lantz, 92, of Brooklyn, peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at her residence.

She was born on September 6, 1929 in Birmingham Township in Schuyler County to Grey and Mildred Phillips Hamilton.

She married Robert E. Lantz on November 5, 1949, in Augusta. He preceded her in death on January 24, 2018.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert L. Hamilton.

Patsy is survived by two daughters and one son, Vicky (Dr. Demir) Saka of Quincy, IL, Dona Lantz of Brooklyn, IL, and Dr. Patrick (Dr. Shelley Kreiter) Lantz of Winston-Salem of NC; three grandsons, Dr. Erik (Dr. Bridget Durkin) Saka of Philadelphia, PA, Nick (Dr. Vicky Pettersen) Lantz of Huntsville, TX, and Andrew (Liz) Aguilera of Charlotte, NC; one great granddaughter, Emory Rose Aguilera of Charlotte, NC; and one brother, Don (Chuck) Hamilton of Augusta, IL; and one sister-in-law, Eleanor (Polly) Smith of Quincy, IL and several nieces and nephews.

Patsy graduated from Augusta High School in 1947.

She enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her children and she cherished the time she spent with her grandsons. She was an avid flower gardener specializing in roses and she enjoyed sharing flowers with friends and family. Patsy hunted arrowheads and collected antiques. She also enjoyed feeding summer and winter birds. During Bob’s career, Patsy and Bob lived in twelve homes throughout Illinois before retiring to Brooklyn. She made each residence a home and became involved in the community and local church. After she and Bob retired to the Brooklyn farm she enjoyed hosting family and community get togethers where they made apple butter, cider, sorghum molasses, and maple syrup.

Patsy worked outside the home for several years until Bob and she retired to Brooklyn. She first worked at Dennis Chicken Products in Augusta, then a flower shop in Macomb, then at the agriculture department at U. of I. Champaign/Urbana, the Circuit Clerk’s office in Carthage and a frame shop in Carbondale. She enjoyed working at the florists and frame shop the most but she thought of herself first and foremost as a wife, mother and homemaker.

Patsy was a member of the Brooklyn United Methodist Church and served as a Sunday School teacher for over 30 years.

A Remembrance will be held on Saturday June 18, 2022 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Brooklyn United Methodist Church (with Pastor Dan Wise offering a prayer), followed by lunch at the Littleton United Methodist Church.
