Ira Eugene "Gene" Kackley, 83, of Camp Point, died at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, February 4, 2021, at his home.
Born August 31, 1937, in LaGrange, MO., Ira was a son of Walter and Lila Pauline Clow Kackley.  He married Patricia Janssen Deming on April 24, 1993, in Lincoln, IL.  She survives.
Mr. Kackley was employed for 30 years at Moorman Manufacturing in Quincy in maintenance and helped build the Mineral Dept. building.  After retirement he enjoyed helping out on friend's farms.   He was part of the crew in frying fish for the Durham Community Center and the Coatsburg Lions club functions.  He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Coatsburg and helped with construction of the St. Peters Lutheran Church fellowship hall and remodel of the church basement.  He also enjoyed woodworking, building model military vehicles.  Ira attended  schools in Ewing, MO.
Survivors in addition to his wife are his children, Larry (Brenda) Kackley, Charyl (Gary) Liesen, and Connie Hollensteiner, of Quincy; his grandchildren, Nicole (Kye) Echternkamp, Josh (Ivy) Dietrich, Brody and Brock Hollensteiner, Chris Kackley, Jessica Kackley, Brandon (Jen) Liesen and Brook Liesen; his step children, Roberta (Randy) Jackson, Camp Point, Timothy (Kelly) Deming, Liberty,  and Bryan (Kimber) Deming, Hillsboro, IL.; his step grandchildren, Amanda (Nathan) Shoopman, Melanie (Bryan) Jefferson, Justin (Taylor) Jackson, Madalynn (Jimmy) Behrens, Ben Deming, Cole (Hanna) Deming, and Dalton Deming; his great grandchildren, Addison Dietrich, Craig Dietrich, Diamond and Drake Kackley, Delaney Liesen, Kennedy and Reagan Shoopman, Wren Behrens, and expected baby, and Kylin, Grant, and Eden Jefferson; his sister, Sharon (Mike) Johnson, Florida; his brothers in law, Don Lair (Pat), Les (Dariva) Lair, Sister-in-law Vivian Kackley, Bert (Wanda Leenerts) Janssen, Gerald (Ruth) Janssen, Valla Lou (Dick) Dieterle, and Freddie (Norma) Janssen;  and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Daryl Kackley, two brothers, Walter Lee and Charles Kackley, two sisters, Carol Vandermaiden, and Lorraine Puls; his parents, Walter and Pauline Kackley; and his father and mother in law, Ben and Ricky Janssen.
Funeral Services will be conducted Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Coatsburg by Rev. Patricia Reep. Visitation will be held Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Coatsburg. Please bring a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines if you wish to attend.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Durham Methodist Church, Graymount Cemetery, or Durham Cemetery.
