Obituary

Wayne Richard Stotts was born at Blessing Hospital on Friday February 13th, 1948 to Mabel L. (Reinebach) Stotts and Richard W. Stotts. He was the 2nd son born of their 6 sons. He graduated from Payson Seymour High School in 1966 and then Gem City Business College(1968) before getting a job at J. Carl Menke's Tax Accounting Service in Quincy before serving in the US Army from 1969-1971. He then worked for many years at Pike/Ron’s Tire until he purchased his own business Stotts Tire and Auto in Quincy, IL and worked there until he retired.

Wayne will be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, as well as a veteran, avid fisherman, experienced camper, athlete and sometimes a good golfer. He was a jokester, and he loved life and his family. According to Wayne, his favorite memories are when the family was all together; He said this is what it is all about. Wayne loved to show pics of the fish he caught to anyone willing to listen. He loved to fish at Mt. Sterling Lake and Siloam’s Springs in his boat with his children, grandchildren and his brother Kenny. He normally caught the most fish, however if you asked anyone who went with him, they would tell you that it is because he steered the boat so that he could cast into the fishing spot first. His family can only imagine how many fish he cleaned over the years, especially at Cedar Lakes campground where his family is blessed to have so many wonderful memories of camping/fishing as a family. He enjoyed his weekly coffee date with his brothers and his golf league in Camp Point. He played slow pitch softball for many years in Adams with his friends and played on a 35/50 and older league at the KC in Quincy. Wayne loved sports and enjoyed coaching his sons’ little league teams and going to most every game of his children and grandchildren with his wife. He loved to play card games his whole life with family and friends. A holiday did not go by without cards. Wayne volunteered at Blessing Hospital and if you were being released from the hospital he may have wheeled you out. He loved his Blessing volunteer job and the people he worked with and met.

He left this earth quietly on April 2nd, 2026 to be with his heavenly father, his earthly parents, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law. His family knows he will be telling jokes in heaven as he did on this earth.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 57 years, Richene Dingerson Stotts, one daughter Sarah (Jim) Maas, three sons Eric(Stacey) Stotts, Corey (Leigh) Stotts, and Ragan (Amanda) Stotts, twelve grandchildren – Brandon, Kyla, Wilson, Lexi Maas (Ryan), Grace, Isaac(Bailey), Sterling, Carter Maas, Emma, Journey, Dylan and Baden Stotts and 2 step grandchildren – Ramsey and Mason Fry and a great granddaughter Sage Page (Lexi and Ryan). He is also survived by his 5 brothers Kenneth, David, Dennis (Sandy), Melvin (Tina), and Jerry Stotts. Also, two sister/brother in laws Donna (Paul) Cramer and Karen (Mick) Uppinghouse with many nieces, nephews and cousins. His family will miss him dearly until they meet again.

Everyone is welcome to come to his celebration of Life that will be held on Saturday, April 25th at Melrose Church in Quincy from 1-4 pm.

Wayne wishes for anyone wanting to give memorials or donate to the following; Blessing Hospital Volunteer Services or Hospice program, and Melrose Chapel. He wanted to encourage everyone to volunteer, serve or attend these organizations or other entities of your choice that are reliant on volunteers to help those in need. Wayne enjoyed volunteering to clean up Jenson Woods during the off season and was a strong supporter of the camp.

Wayne lived his life with a deep belief in the Golden Rule (treat others as you wish to be treated), love your neighbor as yourself and to follow John Wesley’s three simple rules. Do Good, Do No Harm, and Love God with All Your Heart, Soul, Mind, and Strength. And above all, Always Choose Love.
