Vicke Lierly

Vicke Lierly, born January 9, 1953, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at High Point Residence in Quincy, Illinois. 

Vicke was a proud graduate of Central High School’s class of 1971. She continued her education at Quincy University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Human Services; A testament to her passion for helping others. 

 Raised on a farm, she cultivated a deep love for animals, especially horses. Her remarkable musical talent brought joy to countless people as she played piano, sang, and performed in various bands that traveled the nation. With her powerful, yet beautiful voice, Vicke's rendition of Amazing Grace was both her favorite and a deep reflection of her love for Jesus. She attended Madison Park Christian Church, where her faith and love for community shined brightly.

Vicke’s life was dedicated to caring for others. Whether by providing care for abused children, advocating for the elderly as a regional ombudsman, or supporting the less fortunate, her compassion and energy were boundless. Vicke’s selflessness, vibrant spirit, and the joy she brought to those around her, will leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew her. 

Vicke is survived by her daughter, Sarah Beckman, and son-in-law, Kyle Beckman; her beloved grandchildren, Kinlee and Brody Beckman; her sister, Paula McKissick, and brother-in-law, Steve McKissick; her nephew, Nick McKissick, his wife, Anna, and their daughter, Anya. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmo Lierly, Pauline Frost, and Glennis Lierly; her brother, Neil Lierly; and grandchild, Aubrey Beckman. 

An open house visitation to celebrate Vicke’s life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to noon in the Commons Building of Madison Park Christian Church, located at 311 N. 48th Street in Quincy. A private burial will be held at a later date at Southside Cemetery in Clayton, Illinois. 

Memorials may be made to the family, for a college fund to be established for her grandchildren, in her honor.
