Verla Jane Cooper, 90, of Bowen, IL died at 5:06 pm Friday, December 11, 2020 in Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
Over the years, Verla had been employed at Dennis Chicken Products in Augusta, Methode Electronics in Carthage and operated an upholstery shop from her home. Verla enjoyed bird watching, sewing, reading, coloring, and listening to classic country music. During the warmer months, Verla could be found tending her vegetable and flower gardens or sitting on her front porch with a puzzle book. She was an outstanding cook and loved to spoil her family with their favorite treats. Her most cherished times were those spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They are blessed with many loving memories of her.
She is survived by one daughter, Beverly (Scott) Hellyer of Carthage, IL, two sons, Faron Cooper and Kyle Cooper of Bowen, IL; two grandchildren, Rebecca (Rob) Seybold of Pittsfield, IL and Carrie (Dean) Shaffer of Carthage, IL; six great-grandchildren, Chevonne Shaffer, Elijah Leasman, Abigail Shaffer, Piper Shaffer, Colin Seybold and Berkley Seybold.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one sister, Loretta Pratt.
Private family graveside services will be held Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Round Prairie Cemetery near Plymouth, IL. Rev. Joe Little will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to HUGS in Hancock County.
