Vera VanBrooker

Vera Inez VanBrooker, age 93, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at 7:02 a.m. in Pinckneyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Pinckneyville, IL.

Vera was born on August 13, 1929 in Plymouth, IL, a daughter to Lee and Inez (Ware) Munson. On November 22, 1947, she married Henry “Hank” VanBrooker in Bentley, IL and he preceded her in death in May 1992. Vera had worked as a Homemaker and Inspector for Bower Roller Bearings for 23 years. Vera was a member of the St. Mary’s Baptist Church. She took care of her kids and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Vera will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her one son, Richard (Tracy) VanBrooker of Macomb, IL; one daughter, Jan Scarbrough of Pinckneyville, IL; one sister, Pearl (Kenny) McGlaughlin of Colchester, IL; several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry “Hank” VanBrooker; one son, Gary VanBrooker; one daughter, Patricia Chandler; and one brother, Albert Munson.

It was Vera’s wishes to be cremated, the family will be holding a private graveside service at a later date.
