Thomas E. "Tom" Foster

Thomas E. “Tom” Foster, 69, of Golden, Illinois, passed away at 7:26 a.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

Born on June 24, 1957, in Quincy, Tom was the son of Charles Raymond and Marie (Gerdes) Foster. In 1978, he married Kathryn Rose (Foster); they later separated.

Tom graduated from Central High School in 1975 and began his working life at the school as a janitor. He later joined his father, Raymond, in construction, though he wasn’t sure at first if that path was right for him. He spent time driving a truck for Rich Futhey before realizing that building was truly his calling. Tom went on to spend 17 dedicated years with Hesse Builders, where he took great pride in his craft.

Tom loved woodworking and cherished the playful battles with his grandchildren over who would get the first chocolate chip cookie.

Tom is survived by his mother, Marie Foster of Golden; his children and grandchildren: Michelle Loewe (Aaron) of O’Fallon, Illinois, and their daughters Hannah and Ava; Melissa Foster of Quincy, and her daughters Payton Reinold (Kaleb) and Paige Baker; and Greg Foster (Brittney) of Coatsburg, and their daughters Katie and Elizabeth. He is also survived by his sister, Cyndi Kimble of Golden; his brother, Mark Foster of Golden; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Foster; a sister in infancy; and his brother, Mike Foster.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden, with Pastor Adam Doellman officiating. Burial will follow at Golden Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden.
