Steve Winters

Steve D. Winters, 66, of Augusta, IL died at 3:51 pm Tuesday April 4, 2023 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

He was born on January 7, 1957 in Keokuk, IA to Dale E. and Eva L. Redenius Winters. He was united in marriage to Donna Dowdall on December 11, 1982 in the United Church of Augusta in Augusta, IL. She survives.

Steve was a 1975 graduate of Southeastern High School in Augusta, IL. He was employed as the Assistant Engineer with the Hancock County Highway Dept for 34 years retiring in 2012. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Augusta.  Steve was an avid golfer and member of the Tri-County Country Club, he also enjoyed bowling, playing the local slot machines and was an avid Green Bay Packer football fan, he also enjoyed coaching his son Jason’s Little League baseball team and his grandson Carter’s basketball team but his most cherished times were those he spent with his family.

He is survived along with his wife Donna by their 3 children; Jenna (Chris) Lilly of Augusta, IL, Jason Winters of Jacksonville, IL, Jaci (Brandon Cornell) Winters of Quincy, IL, 3 grandchildren, Kendra and Carter Lilly and Dawson Winters, his father, Dale Winters of Augusta, IL, 1 sister, Lisa (Mark) Sweeney of Macomb, IL, 3 brothers, Kevin (Rita) Winters of Bowen, IL, Herb (Barb) Winters of Central City, KY and Mark (Tammy) Winters of Augusta, IL, special cousins, John and Shelly Ringenberger of Augusta, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Winters.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday April 8, 2023 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Augusta, IL with Pastor Rick Hertenstein officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn cemetery in Augusta, IL. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday April 7, 2023 at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tri-County Country Club, Hugs of Hancock County or the Donor’s choice.
