Shirley Ann Ramsey

Shirley Ann Ramsey, 90, of Bowen, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 5:00 am Monday, February 2, 2026, at Maple Grove Silver in Carthage, Illinois.

Born on May 29, 1935, in Clayton, IL, to Harry and Ruby DeMoss Wisely. She was united in marriage to Gerald “Jerry” Ramsey on June 21, 1953, in the Clayton Federated Church. He preceded her in death on March 3, 2011.

Shirley is survived by her two sons, Rick “Cindy” Ramsey of Augusta, IL, and Regan Ramsey of Bowen, IL. She had 10 grandchildren - Stacey “Eric” Stotts of West Point, IL, Doug “Pam” Ramsey of Bowen, IL, Kip Ramsey of Edwardsville, IL, Kirk “Lisa” Ramsey of Staunton, VA, Cole “Patricia” Ramsey of Vienna, VA, Chase Ramsey of Chicago, IL, Rickey “Megan” Ramsey of Golden, IL, Allison “Cory” Wortman of Huxley, IA, Matthew “Kendra” Ramsey of Augusta, IL, Madeline “Dustin” Waddell of Mt. Sterling, IL, and 23 Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Ruby DeMoss Wisely, and her brother Gene Wisely.

Known for her creative soul, Shirley found joy in painting, making jewelry, and numerous other crafts. Her creations were enjoyed by many. She had a love for travel and was always ready for time on the beach. Pets were her other great love, most memorably her Scottish terriers, cats, and skunk, Sylvestor.

She was a member of the Living Faith United Methodist Church of Bowen, IL, for more than 70 years. When not spending time at church or with family, she was a Past Matron of Eastern Star and an original member of the Twilight Twelve Card Club, started in 1960.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Living Faith United Methodist Church in Bowen, IL, with Pastor Dan Seibert and Pastor Dawn Farris officiating. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of services on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Bowen Cemetery.
