Mrs. Sherri L. Powell, 80, of Camp Point, IL, passed away at 9:14 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Golden Good Shepherd Home.

Born January 29, 1945, in Quincy, IL, Sherri was the daughter of Vaughn "Jim" and Vivian “Jenell” Friday Tieken. She married Ronald L. Powell on January 1, 1965, in Quincy. He survives.

Sherri was employed at Quincy Paperbox. She later worked at Chatten’s Orchard in Quincy and also cleaned homes in the Quincy area.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her daughter, Misti Whittaker, and her husband Tim of Janesville, WI; her grandchildren, Bailie Whittaker and her husband Jon Rothman of Chicago, IL, and Drew Whittaker of Chicago, IL; her sister, Stacie Byars and her husband Dave of Stevensville, MD; her brother-in-law, Loren Caster of Ursa, IL; her sister-in-law Louise “Lou” Caley, Loraine, IL, her sister-in-law, Harriet Dooley and her husband Richard, Monroe City, MO, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Judy Longcor and Gail Caster; and her brother, Jim Tieken.

Cremation has been accorded. A memorial gathering honoring Sherri's life will be held Thursday, December 11, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Lummis-Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
