Ronald K. McClelland, 77, of Quincy, IL died at 12:26 am Wednesday March 31, 2021 at his home.

Ronald was born February 13, 1944 , in Quincy, the son of Albert Leland McClelland and Hazel Maurine Phillips McClelland of Stillwell. He married Karen E. Larsen on Jan. 28, 1967 , in Gurnee, IL. She preceded him in death on September 17, 2011 .  He married Linda Acker Ward on July 12, 2014 , in Quincy.  She survives.

Ronald was raised on a livestock and grain farm in Hancock County and continued to raise angus cattle for the rest of his life. Ronald was a graduate of Bowen High School. He received his bachelors and masters degrees from the College of Agriculture at the University of Illinois. Following college, he settled outside of Mendon where he lived for almost 50 years before eventually retiring to Quincy.

Ronald worked at Moorman Manufacturing Company for over 20 years.  During that time he rose to the level of Vice President, was a member of the board of directors, and also served as the President of Quincy Soybean Company. Following his career at Moorman’s, he worked as a financial advisor for Smith Barney and Merrill Lynch until retiring in 2015. Ronald was an avid Illini fan, served as a 4-H leader for many years, was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, and enjoyed attending regional angus cattle shows and sales.

Survivors in addition to his wife include two children, Tim McClelland of San Francisco, and Carla (Steve) McClelland-Schnelle of Ursa; two grandchildren, Brad Chailland of Rogers, AR and Allison Chailland of Ursa; his mother-in-law, Jeanette Massa of Fort Myers, FL; a sister-in-law, Karol McClelland of West Point, IL.; a sister-in-law, Martha (Mike) Landsman of Sun City Center, FL.; a cousin, Glenadine (Larry) Webster of Bowen; six nieces and nephews, Mike (Katrina) McClelland of Bowen, Valerie (Steve) Peterson of Bowen, and Vicki (John) Eilers of Augusta, Michael (Chontey) Landsman of Palmerton, PA, Linda (Mark) Crossman of Mount Dora, FL, Larry (Stephanie) Landsman of Orlando, FL; 12 great-nieces and great-nephews and two brothers-in-law, Thomas (Susan) Acker of Rushville, IL and James (Kelley) Acker of Ashland, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Eileen McClelland;  a brother, Larry McClelland; and a cousin, Margaret Phillips.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday April 6, 2021 at the Bowen Christian Church with Rev. Soebeck Song officiating. Burial will be in Bowen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday April 5, 2021 at the Bowen Christian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice or the Quincy Symphony Orchestra Association.
