With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Lee Allensworth Jr., aged 91, of Liberty, IL. He peacefully departed this life at Blessing Hospital on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.
Bob was born in Wickliffe, KY, on October 23, 1932, the cherished son of Robert and Audrey (Hackney) Allensworth. He completed his education at Quincy High School in 1951 and subsequently served his country with honor in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1955. On October 20, 1973, he was united in marriage with Donna J. Rowsey.
For 35 years, Bob dedicated his professional life to Harris/Gates Corp. His commitment to service extended beyond the workplace as he selflessly volunteered his time with the Liberty IL Ambulance from 1980 to 1995, the Liberty Lions Club from 1987 to 1997, and contributed to the Adams County Red Cross Disaster Assistance and RSVP programs.
In his leisure, Bob found solace in simple pleasures: taking scenic drives in the countryside, hunting for mushrooms, and cutting firewood. Above all, he treasured moments spent with his beloved grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife, Donna J. Allensworth, his father, Robert L. Allensworth Sr., his mother, Audrey E. Allensworth, his stepdaughter, Neaola Cramer, and his sister, Betty Ann Allensworth. He leaves behind his brother, Gene Allensworth of Nevada, to cherish his memory.
He will be deeply missed by his daughter Audra and son-in-law Robert Parsons, his stepsons Bill and Tom Embree, grandchildren Tommy J. and Tim Embree, Richard and his wife Emmalee Parsons, and his great-granddaughter Rinlee Parsons.
A Celebration of Life honoring Bob's memory will be held at a later date, allowing family and friends to come together and share fond memories of a life well-lived.
