Rob Brown

Robert A. “Rob” Brown, 69, of Augusta, IL died at 7:14 pm Friday January 20, 2023 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

He was born on January 21, 1953 in Paris. IL to Leroy and Dorothy Montgomery Brown. He married Rauna Cadwell Twaddle on August 9, 2003 in the First United Methodist Church in Carthage, IL. She survives.

Rob was a 1971 graduate of Hume-Shiloh High School in Shiloh Township, IL, following graduation he attended the American Lineman Builders Apprenticeship Training Program and worked in line construction for 10 years before moving to Augusta, IL in 1984 to begin employment with CIPS/Ameren until his retirement in 2015. He was a member of the Denver Lodge # 0464 AF, & AM, Quincy Consistory and was a former member of the Tri-County Country Club and served on the Hancock County Fair Board for several years. Rob enjoyed golfing, bowling and tinkering and building things in his workshop. He had a love for flying, and being a pilot. He was also an owner of a plane with 5 others that flew off the Carthage airstrip.  He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 50 years, and worked out of Local 51 and Local 702.  He also loved to fish at Larry Hiland's pond, and loved his dogs, especially Rabbit and Sadie. .

He is survived by a brother; Roy (Donna) Brown of Edgar, IL, 3 sisters, Janet Hartman of Pinellas Park, FL, Sue Reasor of Gainesville, FL, Neva Brown of Paris, IL, a step-son, Justin (Deanna) Twaddle of Quincy, IL, 2 step-daughters, Cassie (Ricky) Phiri of Glendale Heights, IL, Cari (Travis) Davison of Bluffton, SC, 9 step-grandchildren, Lily, Caleigh, Abby and Isaac Twaddle, Gemma, Eli and Ian Phiri, Everett and Eleanor Davison and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter in infancy, a nephew, Luke Brown and a brother-in-law. Phillip Reasor.

A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday January 27, 2023 at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL by Pastor Sheri Renner. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL. Masonic rites will be conducted by Denver Lodge # 0464 AF & AM following the visitation at 7:00. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Cremation will be accorded following the services with inurnment at a later date in Moss Ridge cemetery in Carthage, IL.
