Richard E. “Rick” Pennington

Richard E. “Rick” Pennington, 59, of Carthage, IL passed away at 7:50 am Thursday May 15, 2025 at the Carlinville Rehabilitation and Heath Care Center in Carlinville, IL.

He was born on September 21, 1965 in Quincy, IL and was raised by Alfred and Emma Bliss. He married Nicole Creasy on June 24, 2000 in Denver, IL. They later divorced.

Rick was a 1984 graduate of Carthage High School. He worked for many area farmers most of his life. He was a member of the Denver Christian Church and enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling and was an avid Chicago Bulls/Michael Jordan fan.

He is survived by his children; Kelsey (Blake) Frew and Dusty Pennington both of rural Carthage, IL, a granddaughter, MaKinley Frew due in July and Tiny, his beloved cat.

He was preceded in death by his adopted parents, Alfred and Emma Bliss.

Cremation has been accorded. A private family burial will be held in the near future at Mt. Auburn cemetery in Colchester, IL.

The Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta is handling arrangements.
