October 9, 1955 – November 5, 2025
Ray Lane "Razor" Holmes, 70, of Golden, IL, died at 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

He later married Janice Haschemeyer on February 22, 2003, at the Camp Point United Methodist Church. She survives.
Ray graduated from Southeastern High School in Augusta in 1973. He attended Spoon River College for two years and completed his bachelor’s degree at Culver-Stockton College, graduating in 1977. Following graduation, Ray accepted a position with International Harvester, serving as a finance controller in Kokomo, IN, later transferring to Effingham, IL.
In 1983, Ray returned to Augusta to assist in operating the family business, Holmes Equipment Company, alongside his father, Don Holmes, and his uncle, Rex Holmes. Upon their retirement and the closing of the business, Ray accepted a sales position with Selby Implement Company in Quincy, where he worked until his retirement in 2020.
Throughout his life, Ray was dedicated to his community. He was a longtime member of the Augusta Lions Club and later transferred to the Clayton Lions Club, where he was currently serving as president. He was also a member of the JL Anderson Masonic Lodge in Augusta and the Quincy Consistory.
Ray was a talented craftsman who loved working in his shop. He spent many hours building and flying radio-controlled airplanes and restoring countless classic cars, trucks, and tractors. In recent years, his passion turned to International Scouts. He devoted countless hours to restoring several Scouts and attending shows—winning the coveted Ted Ornas Award in 2023 with his Scout Outlaw.
Ray’s greatest gift was his knack for connecting with people. His warmth, humor, and genuine care for others will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
