Patricia A Cookson

Mrs. Patricia Ann Cookson, 92, of Timberpoint Healthcare Center in Camp Point, IL, formerly of Liberty, IL, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

Born February 2, 1933, in Springfield, IL, Patricia was the daughter of Charles Luke Eagan and Geneva Ione Lambert (Eagan) Nash. She married Lyle Wayne Cookson on August 2, 1952, in Quincy, IL. He preceded her in death on November 23, 2016.

Patricia dedicated over 30 years of service to St. Mary’s Hospital. She began working there at the age of 15 as a candy striper and later became a nurse’s aide. Following her retirement, she worked for an alarm systems company for approximately 10 years.

Patricia enjoyed bowling, reading western novels—often finishing a book a day—and watching western movies. She was a devoted fan of the San Francisco 49ers and especially enjoyed watching hockey, particularly the fights. After retirement, Patricia and Wayne loved traveling together. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family.

Surviving are her children: Mike Cookson, Rock Island, IL; Sue Scheiter (Curt), Brownsville, KY; and Reva Walker (Jeff), Quincy, IL; her grandchildren, Kimberly Cookson (Christopher Fleenor), Mendon, IL, Matt (Ambyer) Scheiter, Brownsville, KY, Russell Cookson, Canton, IL, Stephen Loos, Quincy, IL, Chris Walker, Vacaviile, CA, Jessica Bagby (Daniel Kidd), Seattle, WA, Zach Walker, Quincy, IL, Alex (Desiree) Scheiter, Brownsville, KY, Kayla Bagby (Tim Miller), Des Moines, IA, Delante Hicks, Quincy, IL, Tiana (Elijah) Mansfield, Brownsville, KY, and Devin Cookson, Little Creek, VA; twenty-two great and great-great-grandchildren; a sister in law, Janet Sparks (Larry) of Ewing, MO; and thirteen nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lyle; her daughter, Kelly Cookson; two granddaughters, Kimberly Cookson and Kristy Cookson; a daughter-in-law, Melanie Cookson; her brother and sisters in law, Glen and Betty (Nelson) Cookson, Luella and Red Tinkle; her infant brother, Charles Eagan; and her in-laws, Charles Steve and Frances Isla (Davis) Cookson; and her step mother, Vera Eagan.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 12:00 p.m. at the Lummis-Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point, conducted Jordan Hahn. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Camp Point.

Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Timber Point Healthcare Center Activity Program.
