Lorene G. Totsch, 96, of Augusta, IL died at 7:00 pm Sunday September 5, 2021 at the home of her son Jim in Quincy, IL.
She was born on October 19, 1924 near LaPrairie, IL to Albert and Minnie Herren Redenius. She married Ed Totsch on October 28, 1943 in Palmyra, Mo. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1997.
Lorene along with her husband Ed farmed in Bowen, IL until retiring. She attended school to the 8th grade and was proud along with all of her family that she received her GED when she was 62 years of age. Lorene was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bowen where she taught Sunday school and was active in many of the church functions. She was an active member of the Augusta Senior Citizens Center and served as chairman of the floral department at the Hancock County Fair for many years.
She is survived by a son-in-law, Harold Robbins of Sandston, VA, a son, James (Janet) Totsch of Quincy, IL, a daughter, Sharon (Buddy) Sims of Lawrenceburg, KY, 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Joyce Robbins, 2 brothers, Mervin and Virgil Redenius and a sister, Margaret Greenough.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday September 10, 2021 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bowen, IL with Pastor Mark Jauss officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to time of services Friday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Quincy Memorial Park cemetery in Quincy, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the Augusta Senior Citizens Center.
