Lenore E. McElwee, 82, of Camp Point, Illinois, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Golden Good Shepherd Home.
Born on July 29, 1942, in Quincy, Illinois, she was the daughter of Leo Bice and Marian Ruffcorn. Lenore married Perry D. McElwee on November 24, 1963, in Quincy, and he survives.
Lenore had a long career in healthcare, starting as an assistant pharmacist at Brown Drug in Quincy. She later worked as a unit secretary and eventually as a telemetry technician at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. Lenore was also deeply involved in her community, serving for 40 years as the secretary, bookkeeper, EMT, and First Responder with the Adams County First Responders.
A dedicated member of Faith Baptist Church in Camp Point, Lenore enjoyed traveling and was known for her skill as a seamstress.
In addition to her husband, Perry, Lenore is survived by her children: James McElwee (Dianne) of Kansas City, MO; Randy McElwee of Monmouth, IL; Teri McElwee of Golden, IL; and Susan McElwee of Ohio. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Stormy Dawn Gonzalez of Kansas City, MO, Josie Marie McElwee and Jacob Tyler McElwee both of Monmouth, IL, and Cherokee Stopher and Isaiah McElwee, both of Quincy. Lenore is further survived by her brothers, Lewis Charles Ruffcorn (Sharon) of Quincy, and Jerry Ruffcorn of Mendon, IL, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Charlie Tibbets.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church in Camp Point, with Rev. Tom Robbins officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Camp Point. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025, at the church and Saturday morning from 9:30 until the time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Baptist Church or Golden Good Shepherd Home.
