Larry Gene Flesner, 84, of Golden, IL, passed away at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
Born February 23, 1942, in Quincy, Larry was the son of Louis and Alvina Goudschaal Flesner. He married Minnie Jean McGinnis on May 31, 1964, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden. She survives.
Larry operated several businesses throughout his life while also farming near Golden. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, gardening, fishing, and was an avid card player. His greatest love was his family, and he felt truly blessed by them. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden, a 1960 graduate of Central High School, and served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard for six years.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his daughters, Lenora Jean Hennen (Kevin) of Camp Point and Bonnie Jean Flessen (Soren) of Oswego, IL; his grandchildren, Joselyn Monroe (Kasey), Trevor Hennen (Darby), Max Hennen (Finley), Maren Flessen, and Ivy Flessen; his great-grandchildren, Greyson, Karver, Ruby, and Banner; his sister, Joan Tenhouse of Springfield, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his prized fishing buddies.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 27, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden, with Adam Doellman officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Augusta, IL.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden.
Memorial contributions may be made to Horizons Soup Kitchen or the Quincy Humane Society.
