Kevin Lane Thomas, 60, of Columbus, IL, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, April 21, 2026, peacefully at his home.
Born May 27, 1965, in Quincy, IL, Kevin was the son of Glenn and Anita Thomas.
He was a graduate of Central High School and received his pilot's license in the mid 1990’s.
Kevin spent the majority of his life on the family farm located just west of Columbus, IL. He spent 25 years of his life as a full-time pilot and farmer. He also drove a truck in his earlier and later years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, mowing the yard, golfing, hunting, and spending time with his family. Some of his greatest memories were growing up on the farm with his cousins, his Canadian fishing trips, and golf trips to Iowa. Anyone who knew Kevin knew how much he just enjoyed being on the family farm and continuing to build that legacy. Upon retirement, he found great joy in building his very own airplane and seeing it to completion.
Survivors include his daughters: Katie Rose (Matt) of Quincy, IL, Torie Leach (Daniel) of Blandinsville, IL, and son Tyler Thomas (Kelsey) of Blandinsville, IL, grandchildren, whom he adored, Kaser and Maddie B., his brother and sister-in-law Craig and Sharon Thomas (aka, the morning coffee crew), and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Per his request, Kevin was cremated, and a celebration of life for friends and family will be held Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Village Vineyard and Winery, 337 North Vermont Street, Camp Point, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can instead be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
