d. February 18, 2023

Kent Walter Lueders, 82, of Plainfield, IL formerly of Camp Point, IL, passed away Saturday morning, February 18, 2023, at Rush Copley Hospital in Aurora, IL after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s.

Kent was born on May 31, 1940, in Columbus, IL, the son of William “Bud” and Eunice Watson Lueders.  He married the love of his life Elizabeth (Betty) Shackelford on November 20, 1960.  She survives.

Also surviving are his son:  Brad (Sue) Lueders of Plainfield, IL, two granddaughters: Dr. Tara (Jon) Emerick of Carmel, IN, and Samantha (Jono) Davern of Naperville, IL, and a grandson:  Alec Lueders of Denver, CO,  five great-grandchildren: Harper, William, and Saylor Emerick of Carmel, IN, and Noah and Eli Davern of Naperville, IL: two sisters Sue (Kent) Wilson of Sewell, NJ, and Julie Boylen of Springfield, IL; and many nephews and nieces.

He took great pride in the service he provided his customers as the owner of Lueders Plumbing and Heating and Lueders Custom Cabinets over his 30 years of service. He also built and established the Camp Point Drive Inn ice cream stand from 1970 to 1981.

He was a proud husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  He was a member of the Camp Point United Methodist Church.  He grew up in the Columbus area and was a 1958 graduate of Camp Point Central High School.  He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, and golfing.  He loved animals, especially his most recent cat, Bentley. He coached Little League baseball, was a very successful bowler, and loved playing poker, especially with his poker guys.  He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan, a Rams fan (especially when they were in St. Louis), and was an original season ticket holder.  He was a volunteer fireman for the Camp Point Fire Protection District, a member of the Lions Club, and a charter member of the Arrowhead Heights Golf Course.

He was preceded in death by his parents Eunice (1980) and William (1992); brothers Daniel Lueders (1998), Wayne Lueders (2010), and Rodger Lueders (2018), nephews Craig Lueders (1982) and Wyatt Wilson (2011), and a niece Stacy Lueders (1974).
