Kenneth E. "KR" Roberts

Kenneth E. “KR” Roberts, 82, of Augusta, IL passed away peacefully at 12:22 pm Tuesday July 22, 2025 at his home in Augusta, IL.

He was born on July 16, 1943 in Quincy, IL to Hugh and Gertrude Martin Roberts.

Kenny was a 1960 graduate of Augusta High School. He was employed as the Vice President and Area Manager for the Northern Pipeline Construction Company for many years and also operated Kenny’s Bar and Grill, The Sun Shack Tanning Spa and the Cozy Cone Ice Cream Shop all in Augusta. Kenny was an avid IMCA dirt track racing fan and long time supporter of Wyatt Lantz Racing.

He is survived by a son, Kevin Roberts (Tracy Colletti) of Chatham, IL, a daughter, Robin Roberts of Lake Station, IN, 2 grandchildren, Kylee Roberts of Springfield, IL and Marissa Jo Roberts of Lake Station, IN, a step-son, Tony DePoy of Rochester, IL, 2 nephews, Ricky (Elizabeth Diane) Roberts and Rodney Roberts of Argenta, IL, numerous great nieces and nephews. the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of his longtime companion and friend, Kent (Sheryl) Smith of Mapleton, Il, Roger (Debbie) Smith of Glenarm, IL.

He was preceded in death by his brother Jerald Roberts and sister-in-law, Roberta Roberts, 2 nephews, Larry and Mike Roberts and his longtime companion, Shirley Smith.

A graveside service will be held at 4:00 pm Saturday July 26, 2025 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Augusta, IL by Pastor Sheri Renner. A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:45 pm Saturday at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL. Per Kenny’s wishes, following the graveside service he request his family and friends to gather at their favorite local establishment and have a cold one or two in his memory. Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodlawn Cemetery Association.
