Kay Melvin

Barbara Kay Melvin, 76, of Augusta, IL died at 8:30 am Sunday June 16, 2024 in Plymouth, IL.

She was born on February 21, 1948 in Moline, IL, the daughter of Teddy Lewis and Ethel Lucile Gardner Cameron.

Kay was an active member of the Augusta Lions Club and had worked in home health care for many years in the Augusta area.

Kay was married to Gary Melvin on June 24, 1995 at the Huntsville Methodist Church in Huntsville, IL. He preceded her in death on December 17, 2020.

Kay is survived by Ray Steffen and Marshall (Libby) Steffen which she considered as her sons, 2 step-daughters; Janet (Jim) McNaney and Janice (Peter) Larion, 3 step-grandchildren, Crystal (Matthew) Garwood, Amy (Jeremy) Hart and Jason (Brenna) Gooch and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday June 22, 2024 at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL with Brother Matt Haberman officiating. A visitation will be held from Noon until the time of service Saturday. Cremation will be accorded following the services with inurnment at the New Loraine cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Augusta Lions Club.
