Kathleen Louise Limkemann, 82 of West Point, IL passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, January 5, 2023. Born May 18, 1940 in Wheeling, MO; Kathleen was the daughter of Wilmer and Kathryn Lowe. She married Donald Limkemann on May 11, 1958. He survives.
Kathleen was a kindhearted, hardworking, devoted, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed caring for and following her children and grandchildren in their many activities. Even though a stroke in 2008 slowed her down she still continued to live life to the fullest putting others first. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her life.
Kathleen worked with her husband on their family farm and kept records for the farm and other businesses as well. She served many meals to the field for the family and the farm help always with words of encouragement.
She worked at the Bowen Bank for 25 years. She was a volunteer EMT, a Hancock County Election Judge and served on the Advisory Committee for the Hancock County Farm Service Agency.
Kathleen loved to travel and in her retirement years, she and Don spent many winters in Palmetto, FL. She always enjoyed shopping and loved going with friends on their shopping trips.
She was a member of the Bowen Christian Church.
Kathleen is survived by her husband Donald Limkemann, their children; son, Donnie (Debbie) Limkemann of West Point, two daughters; Teresa (Steve) Metzger of Ursa, IL and Pam (Rod) Flesner of Camp Point, IL; seven grandchildren, Danielle (Marc) Corcoran, Dustin Limkemann, Dakota (Jake) Trump, Katelyn and Kristi Metzger, Michael (Suvannah) Flesner, and Jamie (Tyler) Burke; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Jim (Donna) Lowe of Wheeling, MO; a brother-in-law, Richard (Shirley) Limkemann of Quincy, IL and several nieces and nephews.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Robert (Darlene) Lowe; a brother-in-law, Leon (Josephine) Limkemann; two sisters-in-law, Fleta (Arlett) Klingler, Doris (LeRoy) Logsdon; three nephews, John Limkemann, Bob Logsdon and Terry Lowe.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Bowen Christian Church, Bowen, IL on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. A visitation, with family, will start at 9:00 a.m. up until the time of the Celebration Service. A meal will follow the service for all attending the service at the church. A private family burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in the West Point cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
The Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL is handling arrangements.
