Karen S. Hughes, 77, of Golden, IL died at 12:05 pm Friday November 5, 2021 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
She was born July 24, 1944 in Quincy, IL to Donald and Rosalie Sharrow Anderson. She married Larry Hughes on August 21, 1963 in LaPrairie, IL. He survives.
Karen was a 1962 graduate of Central High School in Camp Point, IL. She had worked as a waitress in area restaurants for many years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Golden. Karen enjoyed motorcycle riding and road tripping with Larry in antique cars, but her most cherished times were that she spent with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived along with her husband Larry by 2 daughters; Tammy (Kevin) Winebrinner of Golden, IL and Angela Hughes of LaPrairie, IL. 5 grandchildren. Nichole (Anthony) Dearwester, Austin (Michaela) Winebrinner, Tyler, Dalton and Cody Snell, 2 great-grandchildren, Abigail Dearwester and Olivia Winebrinner, a sister, Anita Habibi of Golden, IL, 6 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and twin sons, Bradley and Brent Hughes and 2 brothers-in-law, Stanley Lee and Michael Andrew Hughes.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday November 10, 2021 at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL with Rev. Sheri Renner officiating. Burial will be in Golden Community Cemetery in Golden, IL. Visitation will be held one hour prior to time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to her family for medical expenses.
