Mrs. Judy A. Walton, 86, of Paloma, IL, passed away peacefully at 4:48 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Blessing Hospital surrounded by her family.
Born January 4, 1939, in Kansas City, MO, Judy was the daughter of Francis and Martha Kruse Mayfield. She married Lawrence A. Walton Jr. on July 13, 1957, in Mt. Sterling, IL. He preceded her in death on April 25, 2006.
Judy was an active member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camp Point. In her younger years she served as a 4-H leader for the Paloma Livewires and enjoyed square dancing with her husband. Judy never missed a year going to the Adams County Fair, loved to travel and frequently said she wasn't done doing things yet. She loved having grandchildren and great grandchildren often asking for more of them.
She had been employed at Quincy Paper Box until its closing in 1991, at which time she returned to college. She was then employed in the lab at JM Huber in Quincy until 2005.
Survivors include her children: Lance Walton of St. Louis, MO; Marta Emery of Paloma; and Krystyna Freeman (Craig) of Wilson, KS. Her grandchildren include Amber Ware (Peyton), Arrent Walton (Sarah), Caitlyn and Carter Emery, and Elizabeth, Eve, and Nadia Freeman. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Karen Bowen (Boyd); two brothers, David Mayfield (Kay) and Jon Mayfield; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Matthew Lawrence Walton; a brother, Arthur Mayfield; and a half-sister, Lylarae Mayfield.
Memorial services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camp Point by Father Aaron Kuhn. Burial will follow at Paloma Cemetery, Paloma.
Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Lummis Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Catholic Church.
