Joyce D Gore

Joyce Dianne Gore, 81, of Clayton, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, at her home.

 Born on October 2, 1943, in Mexico, Missouri, Joyce was the daughter of Cecil Harvey Saylor and Neva Geraldine McGlaughlin. On June 11, 1983, she married Dale Franklin Gore in Springfield, Illinois. He preceded her in death on May 6, 2005.

 Joyce dedicated 36 years to Central Schools, working as a bus driver. She was also a devoted member of Glory Worship Center in Clayton.

 Surviving are her children: Steven Lord of Clayton (Diana Cooley) and Sharon Lord of Quincy (father- Bill Lord); Diana Davis of Peotone (father-Richard Davis); granddaughters adopted as daughters Robyn Salter of Quincy, and Alisha McClelland (Sean) of Chesapeake, Virginia. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, her sisters Camie Hempelman (Wayne) of Quincy and Donna Wilson of Quincy, her brother Leslie "Skip" Saylor (Mary) of Hampton, Virginia, and her sister-in-law Donna Jean Olson, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

 Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale Gore, her grandson LeVon Salter, her great great grandchildren, Logan Mitchell and Zoey-Ann Marie, her sister and brother-in-law Connie and Ronald Higgins, and her brother-in-law Donald Wilson.

 A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Glory Worship Center in Clayton, with Pastor Terry Cain officiating. Following the service, burial will take place at Howe Cemetery in Timewell, IL. Memorial dinner at Clayton Community Building following the burial.
