Mrs. Joyce M. Dietrich, 84, of rural Camp Point, IL, passed away August 18, 2024, at 9:15 pm in her home surrounding by her family.
Born May 1, 1940, in Quincy, IL, Joyce was the daughter of Arthur E. and Leona E. (Frese) Duesterhaus. She married Herbert “Herb” Dietrich on April 18, 1959, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Quincy. He survives.
Joyce attended St. Francis Schools and graduated from Quincy Notre Dame in Quincy. She was an active member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camp Point serving in the Women's Alter Society. Joyce also volunteered countless hours at Timberpoint Healthcare Center serving Meals on Wheels as well as serving as Eucharistic Minister. She was a long-time member of the Adams County Home Extension for over 50 years.
Joyce's life centered around her strong faith and her family. She spent her life as a homemaker and helping with the family farm and raising her children. She loved being a grandmother, and especially cherished holiday gatherings. She devoted her life to improving her community and helping others.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her children; Steven (Marla) Dietrich, Camp Point, Randy (Melissa) Dietrich, Liberty, IL, Bill (Karen) Dietrich, Karen (Kent) Kite, and Warren Dietrich, all of Quincy; her grandchildren, Jared (Katie) Dietrich, Jordan (Maddie) Dietrich, Joe Dietrich, Devin (Allison) Dietrich, Ryan (Jenna) Dietrich, Connor (Madison Sperry) Dietrich, Emily Kite, Ethan Kite, Rory Dietrich, Alyssa Dietrich, and Alexa Dietrich; four great-grandchildren, Riley, Lily, Mable, and Wynston Dietrich and one on the way in September; her brothers and sisters in law, Rosemary Duesterhaus, Melvin (Connie) Dietrich, Carlene Dietrich, and Pauline Seals; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her great-granddaughter, Jersey Dietrich; her brother, Jim Duesterhaus, her father and mother-in-law, Ralph and Angela (Weideman) Dietrich; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Patricia (Verne) Kaltenbach, Rosella (Bob) Hummell, Roger Mast, Danny Seals, and Nick Dietrich.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday (August 23, 2024) at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camp Point by Rev. Aaron Kuhn. Burial will follow at Wolf Ridge Cemetery in rural Camp Point.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Hall in Camp Point.
Memorials may be made to St. Thomas Catholic Church, Wolf Ridge Cemetery, or Blessing Hospice.
