John Szabo

John A. Szabo, 71, of Augusta, IL formerly of Beardstown, IL passed away at 2:30 pm Saturday February 24, 2024 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

 He was born on September 12, 1952 in Springfield, IL to John (Jack) and Beulah Szabo. He was united in marriage to Teresa Warden-Petrie on January 13, 1989 near Beardstown, IL. She survives.

 He graduated in 1971 from Glenwood High School. He worked for many years at Cargill in Beardstown until his retirement. He was a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Bears. He was an avid fisherman and love camping and spending time with his grandkids.

 Surviving is his wife, Teresa, a daughter Amber Szabo of Augusta, IL, 2 sons Ronnie (Amy) Petrie of Springfield, IL and Zach (Beth) Petrie of Lincoln, IL, 6 grandsons; Keith, Levi, Gavin, Anthany, Sean and Gage, 2 granddaughters; Abby and Olivia, 3 brothers; Dave (Julie), Bill (Juli) and Tom, 3 sisters; Jackie, Mary (Todd) and Karen (Doug), many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was proceeded in death by his parents, one sister, Sandra and his beloved dog Lily.

 Cremation has been accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date this year.
