John L Goudschaal

John Leslie Goudschaal, 65, of Quincy, IL, passed away at 8:07 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

John was born at Blessing Hospital on January 23, 1960, the only child of John and Laurita (House) Goudschaal of Coatsburg, IL. He married Laura (Roberts) on March 5, 1994, in Quincy, IL. She survives.

John deeply loved his family and took great pride in everything they did. He was a devoted and lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Whether he was attending games in person, supporting their minor league teams, or watching from home, his dedication never wavered.

He also enjoyed softball, shooting pool, and deer hunting. John was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who especially loved watching his granddaughter play soccer. He spent his career with JM Huber in the maintenance department for 42 years, where he developed many skills and lasting friendships. John was known for his easygoing nature and ability to make a friend wherever he went.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Laurita Goudschaal. Survivors include his wife, Laura; daughter, Johnna; son, Garrett (Kelseigh); granddaughter, Leighnkon Maas; and a special cousin, Denton Sprenger.

Flowers may be sent to the Lummis-Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the QMG Foundation – Oncology Patient Assistance Fund.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 7, at the Lummis-Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point by Pastor Patricia Reep. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens in Golden, IL.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Lummis-Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point.
