Jerry Lee Wear, 68, of Camp Point, IL, passed away at 8:40 p.m. Friday, August 1, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
Born December 9, 1956, in Galesburg, IL, Jerry was a son of Floyd and Marquette Gooding Wear. He married Cheryl L. Dennis on July 28, 1979. She survives.
Jerry was employed as a forklift technician for Wiese USA in Hannibal, MO. He served as a Boy Scout Leader and enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his greatest passion was tinkering on hot rods. He was a devoted grandfather who never missed an opportunity to attend his grandchildren’s events.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Cheryl, include his children, Faron Shane Wear, Brandon L. Wear (Jessica), and Erin I. Wear; his grandchildren, Madyson and Zackary Wear; his sister, Patricia Rice; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Judy; and his brothers, Paul, Norman, and Mike Wear.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, at the Lummis-Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point. Burial will follow at Howes Cemetery in Clayton, IL.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Lummis-Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point.
Memorial contributions may be made to his grandchildren’s education fund.
