Jeannette Wickert

Jeannette Ann (Mayo) Wickert (90) departed for her heavenly home at 8:30 a.m. on June 9, 2026. Family and friends who miss Jeannette now rejoice over her promotion.

Jeannette was born January 16, 1936, to Clifford Buker Mayo and Nancy Maude Livingston Mayo. Her parents and husband, Marlyn, preceded her in death. Jeannette's brother, Keith Mayo, of Sacramento, CA, survives.

After graduating from Colchester High School (1953) and working for Western Union in Rock Island, IL, Jeannette married Ralph Marlyn Wickert on April 16, 1954. Marlyn and Jeannette's three children survive: Mark Wickert of Plymouth, IL; Marlene Forman of Macomb, IL; and Cheryl (Bruce) Holloway of Hillsboro, MO. Also surviving are six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Jeannette was devoted to her husband, Marlyn. She was a homemaker, a caring neighbor and friend, and an active member of the women's group that served the community of Scott's Neighborhood. God equipped Jeannette for several areas of service: church pianist and organist, Sunday school teacher, and bible school teacher. Jeannette's sweet spirit impacted all who knew her.

In addition to being a homemaker, Jeannette later worked at Methode Electronics in Carthage, IL, and at Wal-Mart in Macomb, IL, until her retirement. Since 2000, she and Marlyn resided in Plymouth, although she loved visiting their farm near Scott's Church, where they began married life and farmed for nearly 50 years.

Much can be said to describe Jeannette and her life. Simply, the light of the Lord was in Jeannette. Letting that light shine has been her legacy.

Hamilton Funeral Home of Augusta, IL, is in charge of the arrangements. A private burial is planned.
