Janet K Burton

Janet K. Burton, 85, of Carthage, IL formerly of Augusta, IL passed away at 3:44 pm on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Maple Grove Red in Carthage, Illinois.

Janet was born on November 2, 1940. She was the daughter of Herbert and Alice (Hudson) Woods. She graduated from Augusta High School in 1958. She was united in marriage to Richard C. “Dick” Burton on November 1, 1964 in Augusta, IL. He preceded her in death on April 17, 2018.

Janet enjoyed listening to Country Music, Elvis Presley and watching sports as she was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. She loved having people to come and visit with her.

She is survived by a daughter Lisa (Bryan) Knorr of West Point, IL and a son, Richard L. (Nicole) Burton of Anamosa, IA, a son-in-law Kendall Carstens; her grandchildren, Jenna (Brian) Klucker, Jamie (Ryan) Carter, Jennifer, Michael and Heather Carstens, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Jerry Woods and Gene Woods, a sister, Judy Randall, and daughter, Sheila Carstens.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday December 3, 2025 at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL by Rev. Patsy Spratt. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m.until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at the Augusta Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Southeastern Christmas for kids.
