Gene Whitford

Gene Whitford, 83, of Colmar, IL died at 8:08 am Thursday September 23, 2021 at the Lamoine Retirement Living Center in Macomb, IL where he has resided for the past 3 years.

He was born on October 22, 1937 in Augusta, IL to Russell and Ruby Marlow Whitford. He married Pat L. Rhodes on February 6, 1957 in the Augusta Assembly of God Church in Augusta, IL. She preceded him in death on November 6, 2019 .

Gene was employed as a Foreman at NTN Bower in Macomb, IL until his retirement. He was a graduate of Augusta High School. Gene proudly served his country in the United States Army.

He is survived by a daughter, Kathy (Darrell) Chenoweth of Macomb, IL, 2 grandchildren; Matthew Chenoweth of Clinton, IA and Jennifer (Tristen Protsman) Chenoweth of Macomb, IL, a sister, Iline (Marvin) Godell of Missouri City, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jay Whitford, 1 brother, Richard Whitford and a sister, Marilyn Montgomery.

Cremation has been accorded. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Monday September 27, 2021 at St. Mary’s cemetery near Colmar, IL with Pastor Jon Keck officiating. A visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm Monday at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
