Frederick Aaron Weinberg, 94, of Augusta, IL died quietly on Thursday May 13, 2021, at Carthage Memorial Hospital. He was born to Francis and Rachel Hecketsweiler Weinberg on May 10, 1927 in the family home in Augusta. He graduated in 1945 from Augusta Community High School. He grew up in Augusta and was actively involved in FFA in high school. In World War II he served in the Army Air Corp, 1945 – 46, in Honolulu, Hawaii, as a military clerk.
In 1961, Frederick married Iola Sapp Myers who preceded him in death in 1999. His oldest stepson, Larry Myers died in 2016 and his niece Sara Hohe died in 2020.
Frederick worked in the family trucking and livestock businesses with his father and brother, Tom. He also worked at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy. In recent years, he and his son, Jeff, raised beef cattle.
He was well-known for his love of pets – dogs and cats. He also enjoyed his friends and classmates, especially the reunions, in Augusta for some time. His favorite activity has been going to The Coop in Plymouth for dinner and then on a countryside ride to check on the fields and animals with his brother.
Survivors include his daughter Julie (Ron) Hiland, his son Jeffery (Dawn) Weinberg, his stepdaughters Sandra (Ben) Hilton and Susie (Jesse) Rivas, his stepdaughter-in-law Anita Covert Myers, his stepsons, Meredith (Cathy) Myers, Michael Myers, and Mark (Melinda) Myers. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Weinberg Hohe, and brother, Thomas Weinberg, his nephew Neill (Keisha) Weinberg and niece Charity Weinberg. Frederick is survived by one granddaughter, three grandsons, seven step-granddaughters, four step-grandsons, 2 great-grandchildren, 27 step-great-grandchildren, and 8 step-great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 with visitation at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Burial with Military Honors by the Illinois Military Funeral Honors Detail will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Augusta, IL. Memorials may be directed to Southeastern FFA or the Schuyler County Humane Society.
