Mrs. Esther L. Wartick, 92, of Sunset Home in Quincy, IL, formerly of Pleasant Hill and Camp Point, IL, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the home.
Born December 23, 1932, in Coatsburg, IL, Esther was a daughter of Ray and Viola Trone Gray. She married Joseph Wartick, who preceded her in death on June 21, 1997.
Esther attended grade school through 8th grade in Coatsburg, graduated from Maplewood High School in Camp Point in 1950, and later attended Gem City Business College in Quincy. She was an avid Bible student and worked as a secretary throughout her career.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Ruth Wartick; her grandchildren, Pastor Brian and Becky Joy Weber and their children, Isaac, Violet, Iris, Rose, and Lavender, and Joseph "J.W." Wartick and his wife, Pastor Elizabeth, and their children, Luke and Junia. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Esther was preceded in death by her son, Kent Wartick; her brother, Victor Gray; and her sister, Mildred Schone.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Vermont Street United Methodist Church in Quincy, IL. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Camp Point.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 12:00 noon until the time of services at the church.
Memorials may be made to Vermont Street United Methodist Church, Camp Point United Methodist Church, or the Preachers’ Aid Society of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference.
