Eldon Dean Akers, 65, of Littleton, IL, formerly of Plymouth, IL, passed away peacefully at 4:35 pm Wednesday May 5, 2021 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL with his wife and daughters at his side.

He was born on October 26, 1955 in Macomb, IL to Adron O. and B. Florence Vogler Akers. He was united in marriage to Rita L. Thomas on October 28, 1978 at the Plymouth Baptist Church. She survives.

Eldon was a 1973 graduate of Plymouth High School.  A 46 year employee of NTN Bower in Macomb, IL Eldon enjoyed all things mechanical.  His favorite pass time was restoring his 1972 Dodge Charger Rallye focusing on finding original parts.  He also enjoyed coffee with his friends at local diners and working on various vehicles in his garage.  He was a former member of the Hancock County Gun Club.  When not outside, he could be found reading Louis L’Amour novels or enjoying his wife’s home cooked meals, most especially her cinnamon rolls.  Eldon enjoyed texting his grandchildren funny pictures and always ended his texts with “PaPa loves you.”

He is survived by two daughters, Andrea L. Peters of Tracy, CA, Kimberly Kepple (Jeremy Payne) of Louisville, KY.  He was a proud PaPa to Katalina and Roman Peters and Aspyn Rachel Kepple.  One brother, Calvin (Dottie) Akers of Lake Panasoffkee, FL, two sisters, Joyia (Duane) Hoyt of Carthage, IL, Bonnie (Keith) Mayall of Plymouth, IL.  His father-in-law, Keith Thomas, many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Rachel Thomas and a brother, Gary Akers as well as his mother-in-law, Thelma Thomas and sister-in-law Judy Wiseman.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday May 8, 2021 at LaHarpe Cemetery in LaHarpe, IL by Mr. David Haney. Friends may view and sign the register book from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Blessing Hospital Intensive Care Unit.
