Elaine J Leenerts Hyer

     Elaine J. Leenerts Hyer, 87, of Good Samaritan Home in Quincy, passed away at 6:26 a.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at the home.

     Born March 12, 1936, in Quincy, Elaine was the daughter of Estel and Leta Hagmeyer Cutforth.  She married Herbert L. Leenerts on September 6, 1959, in Payson, IL . He preceded her in death on October 19, 1996. She later married Roger L. Hyer on May 15, 2004, in Clayton, IL. He preceded her in death on May 6, 2013.

     Elaine had been employed as a Certified Nurses Aid at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Quincy.

     Survivors include her daughter, Sandi Watts (Roger), Carbondale, IL.; two stepsons, Gary L. Hyer (Kathy), and Steven R. Hyer (Mary-Ann), both of Quincy; three grandchildren, Scott Shipman (Makenzie), Bluffs, IL, Nicole Shaw (Kevin), Swisher, IA., and Kayla (Bill) Steele, Peoria, IL.; a step-grandson, Lee Alan Hyer, Chicago, IL; six great-grandchildren, Bennett and Stella Shipman, Bluffs, Isabella and Easton Shaw, Swisher, Chloe and Maggie Steele, Peoria and her seventh great grandson who is to be born December 27th, Elijah Shaw; a brother, Robert Cutforth, Quincy, a sister in law, Marilyn Wittler, Fowler, and several nieces and nephews.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; her son, Steven Leenerts; and two great grandsons, George William Steele and Nicholas Shaw.

     Elaine chose to be cremated. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at the Good Samaritan Home Chapel, 2130 Harrison, Quincy, by Chaplain Josh Vahle. Burial will follow at Golden Memorial Gardens, Golden, IL.

     Visitation will be held Saturday morning from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Good Samaritan Home Chapel.
