Derrick D. Arnold, 40, of Macomb, IL died at 8:31 am Sunday February 5, 2023 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
He was born on January 25, 1983 in Macomb, IL to Richard and Catherine VanBrooker Arnold.
Derrick was a graduate of Eufaula, OK High School and attended Spoon River College. He was of the Catholic Faith. He was employed as the kitchen manager at Gelsosomo’s Pizzeria in Macomb, IL.
Derrick enjoyed camping, playing poker and dice, watching sci-fi movies and listening to music. Derrick truly loved spending time with his family whether it was going on their summer vacations, the winter weekend at Fun City in Burlington, IA, Tanners orchard in Speer, IL or the family reunions, and the holiday gatherings, he was there for all of them and he will be greatly missed. Always a giving person, Derrick requested to be an organ donor to the Gift of Hope Donor Network.
He is survived by his mother; Catherine VanBrooker (Patrick “Pops” Campbell) of Bowen, IL, his father, Richard (Lynn Gustafson) Arnold of Macomb, IL, his girl friend, Jamie Wayland of Macomb, IL, a god-daughter, Renesmee Springer who is the daughter of Di Springer which was like a second mother to Derrick, paternal grandfather, Donald Arnold of Macomb, IL, maternal grandmother, Barb VanBrooker of August IL, 3 sisters, Stephanie Unglesbee of Rushville, IL, Angie (Chris) Price of Charlotte, NC, Ashley (Chuck) Howell of Keokuk, IA, 3 brothers, Drew Slater of Plymouth, IL, Christopher (Emily) Arnold of Denver, CO, Eric Campbell of Clayton, IL, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Carolee Arnold, maternal grandfather, Minor VanBrooker, an uncle, Clark Burnham and an aunt, Cindy Faul.
Cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday March 25, 2023 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to his family to assist with funeral expenses.
