Darrell L. Speckhart, 82, of Camp Point, IL, died at 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
Born September 15, 1943, in Quincy, IL, Darrell was the son of Fredrick and Marian (Fischer) Speckhart.
Darrell attended Waters School for eight years and then completed his education at Quincy Junior and Senior High Schools, graduating in 1961. He joined the 126th Illinois National Guard and served his country during the Vietnam War.
Darrell was a member of the Melrose Champion 4-H Club and the Columbus 4-H Club. He was a past member of the Adams County Beef Association and, along with his brothers, was named Beef Producer of the Year in 2009.
Darrell enjoyed attending cattle shows and watching the cattle he and his brothers raised being shown at county fairs. He played baseball for the Camp Point and Golden teams as a catcher. He also loved watching old westerns and sports.
Survivors include his brother, Wayne (Bonnie) Speckhart of Camp Point; his niece, Ashley (Justin) Wolf of Camp Point; and his great-niece, Raeleigh Wolf of Camp Point. He is also survived by several step nieces and nephews: Brenda (“Boomer”) Williams of Coatsburg, Dean (Rahna) Schwengel of Camp Point, and Sherry (fiancé Brian Drew) Clingingsmith of Quincy; and step great-nieces and great-nephews, Alex, Adam, Lexi, and Sadie Williams; Jacob, Caleb, and Layna Clingingsmith; and Megan Schwengel.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick and Marian (Fischer) Speckhart; his paternal grandparents, William and Laura (Loos) Speckhart; his maternal grandparents, William and Rose (Hoffmeister) Fischer; and his brother, Dennis Speckhart.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at the Lummis-Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point, conducted by Rev. Sheri Renner. Burial with military honors will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy, IL.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Lummis-Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point.
Memorials may be made to the Raeleigh Wolf Educational Fund or the Community for Christ Assistance Center.
