Danny LaVerne Foxall

Danny LaVerne Foxall, age 82, of Augusta, IL passed away at 6:04 am Friday, January 27, 2023 comfortably in his home, surrounded by his wife and four of his adult children by his side.

Danny was born on June 5, 1940 to Edith (Gander) and H. “LaVerne” Foxall in Macomb, IL. He attended schools in Macomb, IL and Philadelphia, MO.  

Mr. Foxall was preceded in death by his mother and step-father (Edith and Vic Young), father (LaVerne Foxall), step-mother (Jacki Stephens), and brother (Bill Foxall).

Danny married Patricia “Trish” Oakman on October 29, 1980 at the Little Chapel of the West, Las Vegas, NV. She survives.

Danny is survived by his children- Daryll Foxall of Coolidge, AZ; Cindy “Sis” (Steve) Thomas of Colchester, IL; Jim (Lisa) Foxall of Macomb, IL; Jenifer (Kevin) Buckert of Hamilton, IL; and Vicki (Rob) McAlister of Palmyra, MO. Grandchildren- Bronson Royer, Tyler Royer, Andrea Woodward, Nicole Thomas, Ron Foxall, Samantha Webb, Eric, Kyle, Cameron and Rebecca Lux, James “Jimmie” Foxall, Luke, Mary, and Paul Buckert, Maddox, Meredith, and Micah McAlister. He is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Danny has four brothers surviving- Larry Foxall of Augusta, IL; Ken (Sarah) Foxall of Macomb, IL; Bob Foxall of Quincy, IL; and Scott Foxall of Leesburg, FL, and a sister; Vicki Cannon of Leesburg, FL.

Danny was proud to serve as a United States Marine for four years. After the Marine Corps, Danny served as a structural steel ironworker out of Local 577 in West Burlington, IA. He retired from ironwork at age 62. Danny enjoyed a few years of retirement, but he wasn’t cut out for a life of leisure. His post-retirement pastime was driving an escort vehicle for wind towers, which he did until 2019. 

For entertainment, Danny raced motorcycles, drag cars, and stock cars earning several championship honors throughout his racing career. He became an avid Nascar fan and you could find him most racing weekends watching and cheering on his favorite drivers. But his greatest joy came from family. He loved his grandkids, greats and great-greats.

Cremation has been accorded. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday February 3, 2023 at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL with Pastor Ben Ellefritz officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta. Private inurnment will be held at a later date at Prairie City cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Augusta Children’s Park.
