Dale Winters

Dale E. Winters, 90, of Augusta, IL passed away at 1:50 pm Sunday December 10, 2023 at the Golden Good Shepherd Home in Golden, IL. He had recently celebrated a life milestone of 90 years with family and friends of his community, which he enjoyed immensely!

He was born on November 3, 1933 in Warsaw IL to Herbert Bethyl and Gladys Pearl Sargent Winters. He married Eva L. Redenius on June 24, 1953 in Keokuk IA. She preceded him in death on January 21, 2014.

Dale was a 1952 graduate of Augusta High School. Dale and Eva operated the Kiefers Grocery Store in Augusta for several years. Dale had been employed at the Augusta Farmers Co-op and Suzy Q’s Convenience Store in Augusta for 27 years. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Augusta, a former member of the Augusta Lions Club he was honored as the 2019 Grand Marshall of the Augusta Days Parade. He enjoyed playing cards, going to area river boat casinos, gardening and spending time with his family.

He is survived by a daughter, Lisa (Mark) Sweeney of Macomb, IL;  a daughter-in-law, Donna (Steve -deceased) Winters of Augusta, IL and their children, Jenna (Chris) Lilly, Jason Winters and Jaci (Brandon Cornell) Winters, 3 sons; Kevin (Rita) Winters of Bowen, IL and their children, Kayla (Brad) Neisen and Cierra (Kraig) Hiland; Herb (Barb) Winters of Central City, KY and their children, Kyle Winters, Kelsey (Kris) Wolfe and Karisa (Ridge) Porter; Mark (Tammy) Winters of Augusta, IL and their family, Levi (Heather) Winters, Cody Myers, Austin Myers, Brayden and Brock Winters; 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Eva; son Steve, 3 brothers; Leo, Lloyd Lee and Russell and a sister, Genevieve.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday December 14, 2023 in the Faith Lutheran Church in Augusta, IL by Rev. Rick Hertenstein. Burial will follow at Golden Memorial Gardens in Golden, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 Wednesday at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL. Memorials may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church in Augusta or the Augusta Children’s Park.
