Cecil Davis, 96, of Quincy, (formerly of Clayton, IL.) died at 1:55 a.m. Friday, January 19, 2024, at Quincy Healthcare and Senior Living.
Born October 4, 1927, in Clayton, Cecil was the son of Isaac and Mary Phillips Davis. He married Doris Joan Lierly on November 17, 1973, in Palmyra, MO. She preceded him in death on January 21, 2019.
Cecil served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked as a television repairman for many years. Later he worked as a custodian and groundskeeper.
He enjoyed watching sports and was an enthusiastic fan of his beloved Chicago Cubs.
Survivors include his son, Kevin Gardner (Cindy), Quincy; his grandchildren, Jason Gardner (Elizabeth), Jackson Hole, WY., and Nicole Gardner (Vince), Quincy; his great-grandchildren, Taylor, Joseph, Henry, and Gabby; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife; and his siblings, Gladys Louderback, Della Brady, Velma Johnson, Ida Alcorn, Minnie Ross, Jesse Davis, Ernest Davis, and Berniece Guthrie.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2024, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Clayton by Rev. Sheri Renner. Burial with military honors will follow at South Side Cemetery, Clayton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Quincy Senior Center.
