Betty Ann (Bodie) Allen, 82, of Clayton, passed away Friday, March 22, 2024, at the home of her daughter in Quincy.
Born July 27, 1941, in Versailles, IL, Betty was the daughter of Harold and Margaret Smith. She married Arthur Dale Allen on December 27, 1960, in Beardstown, IL. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2007.
Betty worked as the Supervisor of Laundry and Housekeeping at Heritage Manor Nursing Home retiring in 2006. She then served as the Community for Christ Assistance Center Director and also worked as a school bus monitor.
Mrs. Allen had been a member of the Clayton Library Board, Adams County Housing Board, Clayton American Legion Auxiliary, and volunteered with Clayton Old Settlers. She enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, playing slots, and dancing, especially to her favorite song, "Black Betty". She was a member of the Clayton Christian Church.
Survivors include her children; Wanda Robertson, Beth Clinging, Laura (Bobe) Lieurance, Brian Allen, and Jeris (Michael) Rose; her grandchildren, Nathan, Sarah (Marcus), Jordan (Brooke), Chris (Sophia), Shaun (LaVette), Lindsey (Austin), Collin (Kaylee), Lucas (Emily), Hannah (Noah), Jacob (Sydney), Lexi (Brandon), Kaden (Alyssa), Blaise (Danielle), Dallas, and Taelor (Terry); 30 great-grandchildren; her sister, Linda Cady, of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; and four siblings, Shirley, Gerald, Wayne, and Sandy.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the Versailles West Side Cemetery by Pastor Brandon Llewellyn.
A visitation will be held Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Clayton.
