     Louis Lee Irvin, 80, of the Illinois Veterans Home, (formerly of Loraine) died at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at the home.
     Born April 28, 1937, in Ashland, IL., Louis was a son of Leroy and Irene Jones Irvin. He married Sharon Crumbaugh on January 7, 1961, in Springfield, IL. She survives.
     Mr. Irvin served his country in the U.S. Navy from August 22, 1955, until 1961 as a radarman second class (E-S) aboard the U.S.S. Perry (DD844). After his service to his country, Louis was employed as an air traffic controller for 5 years in Indianapolis, IN. (1967-1972) and later at Baldwin Field (1972-1989) for 16 years retiring from the FAA in 1989.
     After retirement from the FAA, Louis worked as a NWS weather observer until 2003. In his spare time, he enjoyed converting albums to CD, and reel to reel video to DVD. He was also a certified HAM operator and Packett radio carrier (N9AYP). Louis was the family historian and tracked the family genealogy from old paper records to the 1400's in Scottland.   
     Survivoring in addition to his wife are a three sons, Roger Irvin and his children, James Darrell and Eric Irvin, Mark (Sheila) Irvin and his children, Steven (Lexi) Irvin, Zachary, Hailey, and Kaelyn Laurich, and Mike (Amanda) Irvin and his children, Ella and Hayden Irvin; two daughters, Darlene Roberts and her children, Alizabeth and Alexander Roberts, and Vicki (Jeff) Schmoll and their children, Lucas Prange, and Mitchell and Logan Ballard; a great grandchild, Chase Irvin.
     He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter.
     Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 26 in the All Faiths Chapel at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy. Burial with military honors will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Quincy, IL.
     Visitation will be held Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services in the All Faiths Chapel at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.
     Memorial contributions may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home Activity Fund.
