L. Jean Marlow Denny Hornecker O’Neal, 88, of Augusta, Illinois died at 1:56 am Sunday March 11, 2018 at the Golden Good Shepherd Home in Golden, Illinois.
Jean was born July 13, 1929 in Roseville, IL the daughter of Guy Elza and Pauline Lettie (Cox) Marlow. On January 23, 1949 she married Philip Denny in Augusta, Il. He preceded her in death on June 2, 1966. On November 21, 1973 she married Buford Hornecker in Carthage. He preceded her in death on September 23, 2000. On July 21, 2001 she married John O’Neal in Augusta, he survives.
Jean graduated from Augusta High School in 1947. She was a homemaker and her family was her priority in life. After Phil’s death Jean managed the family farm with her sons until her son, Rich, was able to take it over. Jean was a Teacher’s aide at the Southeastern Grade School in Bowen for several years. Mostly she was a friend to all she met and her home was a welcoming gathering place for friends and relatives.
She is survived by her children and the children from her blended families who were all her children. Steven (Patricia) Denny of Naperville, IL, Richard (Ginger) Denny of Augusta, IL, Michael (Lisa) Denny of Chandler, AZ, Phyllis (Charles) Darnell of Quincy, IL, Mick (Janet) Hornecker of Belton, TX, Christopher (Debbie) Hornecker of Augusta, IL, Dawn (Spencer) Trautvetter of Loraine, IL, Timothea (Keith) Wasson of Quincy, IL, Jack (Diane) O’Neal of Plymouth, IL, Thomas (Marcia) O’Neal of Peoria, IL, Philip O’Neal of Quincy, IL, Plus 27 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren, also by a sister-in-law Phyllis Marlow, a son-in-law Gary Flynn and by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews too numerous to name and too precious to not.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, a daughter Karen Flynn, and by her five brothers and five sisters. She will be missed by all.
Funeral services will be held at 10: 00 am Friday March 16, 2018 at the Living Faith United Methodist Church in Bowen, IL by Rev. Sheri Renner and Rev. Dixie Croxton. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Augusta, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 Thursday at the Living Faith United Methodist Church in Bowen. Memorials may be made to the Woodlawn Cemetery Association, Golden Good Shepherd Home or Living Faith United Methodist Church.
