Bette E. McGartland, 89, of Good Samaritan Home, formerly of Camp Point, died at 12:25 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the home.
Born December 24, 1927, in Ripley Township in Brown County, Bette was a daughter of Hiram and Grace Tucker Rittenhouse. She married Ray McGartland October 14, 1950, in Camp Point. He preceded her in death on October 4, 2001.
Bette graduated from Liberty High School. She worked briefly as a school teacher before her marriage. After her marriage, she was employed at Adams Electric, Motorola, Grandview Manor Nursing Home, and finally the water billing clerk for the Village of Camp Point.
Bette was always a homemaker, loving mother and a friend to all, she loved her family, her work, and church activities. She was a member of the Camp Point United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Terry McGartland and his wife Becky, Quincy; a grandson, William McGartland, Clayton; two step grandsons, Steve Dieterle and his wife Crystal, Quincy, and Greg Dieterle and his fiance' Amanda Logsdon, Liberty; two step great grandchildren, Kaleb and Zoey Dieterle, Quincy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Harold Rittenhouse and James Rittenhouse; and a step sister, Gladys Huddleston.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Camp Point United Methodist Church by Pastor Sheila Kelly. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Camp Point.
Visitation will be Saturday morning from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Camp Point United Methodist Church.
